Basic Electrical Control Panel Fundamentals, Safety, Fault Finding & Maintenance
1 full-day workshop · Delivered in Rochester · Minimum 3 engineers
This structured one-day workshop is designed for site staff who need to understand how to access electrical control panels safely and carry out basic fuse replacement with confidence and care. It is ideal for operators, maintenance assistants and other site personnel who may be expected to work near or inside control panels as part of their role. The focus is on building practical awareness, safe habits and clear judgement, so that minor issues can be handled correctly without turning a manageable situation into a safety incident. Delivered at our workshop, the day combines guided learning, practical discussion and hands-on understanding in a controlled environment. A minimum of three people from each company is required for attendance.
During the workshop, attendees will learn:
-how to recognise electrical hazards and understand the risks of working around control panels
-the importance of correct PPE, insulated tools and safe approach procedures
-the basics of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and when isolation is required
-how to identify common control panel components, labels and warnings
-safe methods for opening panels and working inside them appropriately
-how to prove dead using a voltage tester before beginning work
-how to identify common fuse types, recognise a blown fuse and replace it safely
-the correct steps for safe re-energisation after fuse replacement
-how to spot signs of damage or deeper faults, and when to stop and escalate to a qualified electrician

Training delivered by working engineers
Hale Engineering has been diagnosing faults, commissioning control systems, and managing functional safety on industrial sites across the UK for years. Our clients include Rolls-Royce, BMW, Coca-Cola, Wessex Water, Stericycle and Biffa. Our training is a direct extension of that work. Every course is delivered by practising engineers — not trainers who once worked in industry. We design each programme around your systems, your documentation, and the faults your team actually faces. There is no generic curriculum. There is no substitute for it.
