The Hale Engineering team recently undertook a project which involved replacing and upgrading an old circuit with an Allen Bradley PLC for a Baghouse controller. The project involved the installation of a new power supply, MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker), solid-state relay, and the development of a Ladder Logic program to control a solenoid valve for bag blow down. The entire upgrade project was successfully completed within just two days.
Challenge For The Upgrade
The Ashford Project’s Baghouse controller had an outdated circuit that needed a modern upgrade to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. The existing system was not only technologically obsolete but also prone to frequent malfunctions. To address this issue, Hale Engineering was entrusted with the task of revamping the system.
Upgrade Solution
The Hale Engineering team, took on the challenge with a combination of skill and experience. They opted to replace and upgrade the aging control system with an Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The project began with the installation of a new power supply, which was a critical component for the efficient operation of the upgraded system. A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) was also introduced to enhance the safety and security of the system, minimising the risk of electrical faults.
One of the central components of the project was the integration of a solid-state relay. This relay was instrumental in controlling a solenoid valve, which, in turn, was responsible for bag blow down. The solenoid valve’s operation is crucial in industrial baghouses, where it plays a significant role in maintaining optimal working conditions.
In addition to the hardware upgrades, Hale Engineering’s team of experts also undertook the development of a Ladder Logic program. This program was tailored to the specific needs of the Ashford Project, ensuring seamless communication between the various components of the system and automating the bag blow down process efficiently.
The Hale Engineering team’s successful completion of the Ashford Project Baghouse controller upgrade demonstrates their commitment to enhancing industrial processes through innovation and efficiency. By replacing the outdated circuit with an Allen Bradley PLC, installing critical components, and developing a tailored Ladder Logic program, they ensured that the Baghouse controller operates with the utmost reliability.
