Hale Engineering has been approached to replace an ageing system in an industrial facility with a modern Motor Control Centre (MCC) and enclosure. The existing system was outdated and inefficient, leading to increased maintenance costs, operational challenges, and potential safety risks.
An ageing system can lead to frequent failures, with components breaking down unexpectedly and disrupting production efficiency. Operators often struggle with limited visibility and control over motor operations, making troubleshooting slow and inefficient. Without a dedicated enclosure, the system is exposed to dust, moisture, and fluctuating temperatures, accelerating wear and reducing its lifespan. Additionally, older systems often lack modern safety features, increasing the risk of electrical hazards for personnel.
To prevent these issues, Hale Engineering is developing a new Motor Control Centre (MCC) and enclosure. The solution will provide a fully integrated MCC designed to streamline control and automation while ensuring enhanced motor protection through advanced safety measures such as overload relays and circuit breakers. By integrating the MCC with PLCs and SCADA, remote monitoring and real-time diagnostics will become more efficient, improving overall operational performance. Furthermore, housing the MCC in a temperature-controlled enclosure will safeguard it from environmental factors, ensuring optimal heat dissipation, safety, and long-term reliability. This new design also ensures compliance with modern electrical safety standards, reducing hazards and enhancing workplace security.
The importance & benefits
The implementation of the new MCC will deliver a range of benefits –
- Reliability will be significantly improved, reducing unexpected failures and keeping operations running smoothly.
- By incorporating Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and automated controls, the system will optimise energy efficiency, leading to cost savings.
- Worker safety will also be enhanced, as a properly enclosed MCC minimises exposure to electrical hazards and high-voltage components.
In addition to improving safety and efficiency, this upgrade will reduce maintenance costs. With a well-protected and centralised system, wear and tear on components will be minimised, decreasing the need for frequent servicing. Operators will also benefit from improved control and monitoring, gaining real-time insights into motor performance that allow for proactive maintenance and troubleshooting. Finally, the new MCC is designed for scalability, ensuring compliance with industry standards while allowing for future expansions.
This project highlights Hale Engineering’s expertise in delivering efficient, safe, and future-ready industrial control solutions tailored to the needs of modern industrial facilities.
